Day trip to Friouato Cave from Fes
One day is enough to go down into the Friouato chasm from Fes: about 2 h 30 by road to the cave, then the Tazekka loop if time allows.

Planning the day
Leave early
With about 5 hours of driving there and back, a morning start leaves time to visit without rushing and to be back before dark on the mountain road.
Go down into the chasm
Around 520 steps lead from the sinkhole to the decorated chambers, down to about −120 / −130 m. The climb back needs good fitness; it is 12–14 °C underground all year.
Continue into Tazekka
If the day allows, the 76 km loop through Tazekka National Park links the cave, Daya Chiker, the Ras el Ma waterfalls and the Jbel Tazekka cedar forest.
Getting there
By car, drive to Taza, then follow the winding Bab Boudir road, carefully in winter. Without a car, shared grand taxis run from Taza to Bab Boudir; agree on the return trip and waiting time.
